Screening for Plagiarism Policy
Pelita Tech Journal maintains a strict policy on plagiarism. Every manuscript submitted to the journal undergoes a thorough screening process to ensure its originality and integrity before proceeding to the peer review stage.
- Plagiarism Detection Tools
All submitted manuscripts are checked using professional plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin or iThenticate. This screening is conducted by the Editorial Office at the initial stage of submission. - Similarity Threshold
The maximum allowable similarity index is 20 percent. In addition to the overall similarity score, the editorial team also evaluates string matches. If a manuscript shows a high level of similarity with a single source, for example more than 5 percent, it may still be flagged for revision even if the total similarity is below the threshold. - Types of Plagiarism Addressed
The journal considers several forms of plagiarism as unacceptable. These include direct plagiarism, which involves copying text word for word without proper quotation or citation; self plagiarism, which involves reusing substantial parts of the author’s own previously published work without acknowledgment; patchwriting, which refers to combining copied phrases with minor modifications; and data fabrication or falsification, which involves manipulating research data or results. - Editorial Action
Based on the screening results, the Editor may take different actions. If the manuscript is within the acceptable threshold, it will proceed to the peer review stage. If minor overlap is detected, the manuscript will be returned to the author for revision and must be resubmitted with a lower similarity score. In cases of major plagiarism, the manuscript will be rejected immediately, and the author may be restricted from submitting future manuscripts to the journal.
